What's the difference between an antiperspirant and a deodorant?

Deodorants prevent the formation of the odor causing bacteria and cover the smell. They only take effect for a very limited space of time, however, as they do not fight the actual problem - the formation of sweat - at its root.

Antiperspirants on the other hand narrow the perspiratory glands and thus prevent the secretion of sweat.
